/ About the Position
Green Century’s Shareholder Advocate will bring critical environmental concerns to America’s largest corporations and help develop strategies to ensure they improve their policies. The Advocate will bring pressure to bear on targeted corporations on Green Century’s issues and campaigns, and will collaborate closely with our other shareholder advocates. This position reports to the Director of Shareholder Advocacy.
/ Key Responsibilities & Expectations
Assist in the development, strategy, and implementation of our annual advocacy plan as well as actions targeting specific environmental issues and companies.
Research corporate environmental policies and best practices around issues of concern. Identify opportunities for change and develop the business case for companies to take responsible environmental action.
Communicate and negotiate with corporate representatives through written correspondence, video, and in-person meetings.
Draft and file shareholder resolutions.
Attend corporate annual general meetings.
Vote the proxies for companies owned by Green Century and the Funds.
Engage with and represent Green Century in select shareholder coalition efforts.
Communicate with non-profit organizations to develop and coordinate actions.
Write and distribute press releases and speak with members of the press.
Support the broader mission of Green Century and our non-profit owners, as needed.
This position requires exercising discretion and independent judgment in matters of significance and working effectively in both corporate and non-profit settings.

Ability to travel periodically, a college degree and at least 2 years of relevant experience is required.
