Oversight Letters and Upcoming Conferences
State AGs Continue Push on Sustainable Coalitions
Last week, 10 U.S. State Attorneys General sent letters to almost 80 companies warning them of potential anti-trust and consumer protection violations due to their involvement with environmental groups aimed at plastic reduction: U.S. Plastics Pact, Consumer Goods Forum, and the Green Blue Institute.
States at work: Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier led the group of AGs from Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Texas, and West Virginia.
Same tactics: Last year, we saw a similar letter-writing campaign to signatories of the Net Zero Asset Managers Initiative (NZAM) and the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This recent letter campaign is just another attack against environmental groups.
Asks: The letters request companies to explain their involvement of the environmental groups and warn that continued participation may result in further investigation.
