New Bill Aims to Restore Clean Energy Tax Credits

Last week, Republican lawmakers introduced a new bill, the American Energy Dominance Act, that aims to reverse the accelerated deadlines on clean energy tax credits that were included in last year’s budget bill, the One Big Beautiful Bill.

Supporters: The bill was introduced by Representatives Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), Max Miller (R-OH), Mike Carey (R-OH), and Mike Lawler (R-NY).

Real costs: “For capital-intensive sectors, a shortened policy horizon does more than disrupt planning—it raises the risk that critical projects are delayed, scaled back, or never built at all. When this happens, it is American workers, American employers, and American families who pay the price through slower growth, tighter energy supply, and continued cost pressure,” wrote the lawmakers in a statement.

Where we go from here: This bill is unlikely to gain support under this Congress; however, if the Democrats take the House and/or Senate later this year, there is hope that clean energy tax credits could be restored. Democratic lawmakers introduced a similar bill in March.
