Date Set for SEC Investor Advisory Committee June Meeting

The Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) Investor Advisory Committee is hosting a public meeting on June 4 at 10am. Topics to be covered include private markets, passive index funds, and recommendations regarding fund proxy voting and quarterly versus semiannual reporting.

Passive Index Funds and Shareholder Voting Panel: One panel discussion will focus on the corporate governance and investor protection implications in passive index funds. Panelists will explore concerns regarding managerial accountability, fiduciary obligations, shareholder activism, and the influence of large asset managers. Panelists include Robert Bishop/Duke Law, Jill Fisch/Penn Law, Jonathan Macey/Yale Law and Lindsay Keljo/SIFMA. It will be moderated by James Copland of the Manhattan Institute who has a history of working against shareholder rights policies.

Discussion Fund Proxy Voting Recommendations: The Committee will also discuss and vote on proposed recommendations to modernize the fund proxy system for open-end funds and ETFs.
