Executive Director, Sustainable and Impact Finance

Independently leads, directs and administers the Sustainable and Impact Finance program with complete responsibility for all administrative and programmatic activities.

  • Fosters and reports on sustainable and impact finance research, co-curricular programming for students, development of a community of practice in the field.
  • In conjunction with faculty director, sets program vision, strategies, and goals.  This includes developing staffing plans, growing the program financially and cultivating programmatic growth.
  • Sets teaching agenda.
  • Draws upon network of finance and impact investing professionals to enhance co-curricular student experience.

Identifies and pursues funding opportunities and revenue streams.

  • In partnership with Haas' development team, is responsible for fully funding SAIF program.
  • Builds partnerships with thought and practice leaders both within UC Berkeley and externally (e.g. alumni, foundations, and companies).
  • Has full responsibility for financial sustainability, including fundraising through pursuing gifts, contracts, and grants.

Participates in advanced program budgeting and accounting processes to support financial infrastructure of program.

  • Manages financial transfers of research funding to intra Haas and inter UCB departments.
  • Manages annual Haas finance's budgeting forecasting and reporting process for SAIF.

Assesses program's effectiveness, and recommends changes to program's content, policies and procedures accordingly.

  • Develops and measures KPIs to assess the program's effectiveness.

Serves on committees representing the program, participating in short- and long-term planning.

Manages financial and HR resources.

  • Develops and monitors staffing plan that includes professional as well as student staff.
  • In conjunction with Berkeley Foundation staff and Sustainable Investment Fund student principals and Haas Impact Fund instructors, steward investment funds to ensure SAIF sustainability.

Facilitates the efforts of various departments, managers, and outside constituencies to ensure interdisciplinary collaboration.

  • Develops network of corporate, foundation, governmental partners to participate in curricular and co-curricular programming.

Assists in developing research, participates in professional conferences, and provides public relations support.

  • Using existing network of business contacts, builds partnerships with thought and practice leaders both within UC Berkeley and externally.
  • Oversees professional conferences/events related to SAIF.

  • Academic background and experience in sustainable finance and/or impact investing; finance.
  • Advanced knowledge of administrative, budgetary, human resources and financial principles and practices.
