The ESG Analyst will be an integral part of Eagle Asset Management’s fixed income team, providing qualitative research and quantitative analytical support. Under general supervision, incumbents will use specialized knowledge and skills obtained through experience, specialized training or certification to support Portfolio Managers in preparing industry and company research by collecting, organizing, and analyzing data, writing investment-related research reports, and creating/maintaining financial models. Passion for aligning financial returns with environmental and societal impact is critical to success. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct proprietary research to build/update models to assess ESG issues with respect to both corporate and municipal bonds, designed to feed into the research of the existing ESG Team and inform portfolio management teams’ decision-making.
• Use information from data vendors and our proprietary research to analyze, score, rate and rank companies/obligors on their ESG performance in support of new product development.
• Support the development of impact metrics for current and new products.
• Seek and evaluate sources of information regarding the environmental, social and governance policies and performance of corporations and other issuers of securities.
• Develop expertise in critical issue areas, such as energy, natural resource efficiency, environmental sustainability, economic development, supply chain management, health care, etc.
• Perform regular reviews of academic literature on ESG investing and relevant ESG topics and communicate to the team findings and/or empirical developments.
• Manage the day-to-day ESG collection and analysis of all quantitative data and qualitative content.
• Communicate insights to investment and sales teams.
• Establish tracking framework for engagement of companies/issuers.
• Willingness to travel a few times a year to conferences and seminars to improve investment skills and software application understanding.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of

• Company’s working structure, policies, mission, and strategies.
• Principles of banking and finance and securities industry operations.
• Financial markets and products with a focus on ESG (Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance) factors.

Skill in

• Advanced MS Office (Word/PowerPoint/Excel) skills
• Utilizing a variety of statistical, mathematical, and/or analytical tools in order to design, develop, and evaluate data analytics.
• Organize, manage, and track multiple detailed tasks and assignments with critical deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
• Use appropriate interpersonal styles and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with all organizational levels.
• Attend to detail while maintaining a big picture orientation.
• Interpret and apply policies and identify and recommend changes as appropriate.
• Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree would be a plus) in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business or related fields in the Sustainability space with a minimum of 2 years of related work experience (e.g. buy-side or sell-side, ESG research or corporate governance advisory research).
• Familiarity with ESG data vendors preferred

• Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.

Licenses/Certifications

• CFA 1 candidate and above or desire to obtain CFA preferred
