Portfolio Manager
About Envest
Envest is a for-profit global microfinance fund located in Madison, Wisconsin that provides financing to microfinance institutions (MFIs) in developing countries. Envest’s mission is to reduce poverty and promote the development of a sustainable economy by connecting microfinance institutions to capital markets. The Envest team is dedicated to using financially sound market mechanisms to create a more environmentally sustainable and socially just economy.

Currently, Envest’s portfolio is approximately $6 million with investments in 19 MFIs in ten countries: Nicaragua, Panama, Honduras, Peru, Moldova, Kenya, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan. In addition to managing and growing the Envest portfolio, the team also strives to break down legal and structural barriers that currently constrict growth in the microfinance industry.

Opportunity
Envest is seeking a team member to support our growing organization. Envest is a small team of three with a successful track record and unique model in an exciting and niche field. While Envest is an established organization founded in 2006, we have a startup mentality in which the team is hungry to drive Envest’s mission forward. We are looking for someone with a vision for Envest who is comfortable working both independently and as part of a team to push us forward.

This role represents an opportunity for a professional to be involved in breaking down structural barriers that preclude financial inclusion. Each team member is very involved in all aspects of the business: decision making, partnership management, reporting, financial management, event planning, accounting, marketing, governance, etc. There may be tasks that are beyond a team member’s capacity, but no task is beneath any team member.

The portfolio manager’s focus will be in helping analyze current and new partner MFIs for loan disbursements and ongoing monitoring and due diligence of our portfolio.

This position will start virtually until it is deemed safe for the team to return to the office. There is potential for continued partially or fully remote work.
