Building on the 2017 US SIF Conference session “A New Era for Human Rights and Investing: Emerging Best Practices,” we invite US SIF members to join our webinar on “Human Rights Impact Assessment Tools – An Overview.” Members will learn about the evolution of these tools and a survey of existing tools.
Sarah Altschuller, Counsel, Foley Hoag LLP
Sarah provides counsel regarding engagements with socially responsible investors, government policymakers, local communities, non-governmental organizations, and other key stakeholders. She also conducts site-level human rights and labor rights impact assessments, as well as due diligence efforts.
Marti Flacks, Deputy Director, Business & Human Rights Resource Center
Marti directs the U.S. branch of the Business & Human Rights Resource Center, which works to advance human rights in business. It track over 7000 companies and help the vulnerable eradicate abuse. Prior to joining the Resource Center, Marti served in senior roles in the Obama administration on international issues.
Lauren Compere, Director of Shareowner Engagement, Boston Common Asset Management
Lauren coordinates Boston Common’s global shareholder engagement initiatives and has held numerous leadership positions in industry working groups and on boards, with special focus in the areas of access to health care and nutrition, human trafficking, and corporate disclosure in emerging markets.
Erica Lasdon, Vice President, Calvert Investments (Moderator)
Erica is responsible for directing the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) research and analysis related to Calvert funds. Her specific expertise is in the materials, technology and extractives sectors and on issues relating to human rights, corporate governance and water.
